Little Players (Ages 5–7)
Our Vision: A community where every child feels safe to express themselves, builds confidence and a sense of identity, and gains life skills through positive theatre experiences.
Mission-Based Drama Adventures
Is your child ready to join the elite discovery team? This is their mission, if they choose to accept it!
At Child Players, we believe that drama is more than just acting—it’s about building the foundational life skills your child needs to thrive. We use “Mission-Based Drama Adventures” to build the cognitive, social, and emotional foundations your child needs for life.
Classes are designed specifically for children from Kindy to Year 2 (aged 5 – 7 yrs), where we turn every drama class into a Mission-Based Drama Adventure. From investigating the great diamond heist, to first contact with aliens in deep space, students use characterisation, world building, devised narrative, improvisation and drama techniques to develop high-level abstract thinking and problem-solving skills as they learn to navigate and influence the imaginary environments they create together.
Discover the thrill of “Mission-Based Drama Adventures”
Our unique “Mission-Based Drama Adventure” format is an immersive, child-lead, play-based drama experience where the students become the authors, heroes, and explorers of their own stories.
This process activates your child’s imagination and keeps them engaged, excited, and constantly learning. Every week we will actively engage in a different drama adventure, such as "Space Adventures", "Superhero Adventures", "Detective Adventures" and more! We are only limited by our imagination!
How a Mission-Based Drama Adventures Works
Every session follows a consistent, research-backed ritual. We start by "unlocking" our imaginations, step into a themed world where the children are empowered to take the lead and decide where the mission leads. Students will encounter challenges that requires creative solutions and team-work to solve. Whether it’s exploring the museum for clues or deciding what our first words to an alien nation should be, each ‘Mission-Based Drama Adventures” are child-lead and fully immersive. Creating child-lead missions in an imaginary world gives student a rare and vital sense of agency. In a world where adults usually make the rules, our drama missions are a place where their choices shape the story.
Why Mission-Based Drama Adventures?
At this developmental stage, children are moving from "What is this?" to "How does this work?" Our classes harness that natural curiosity to develop high-level creative and cognitive skills
Improvisation & Spontaneous Thinking: There are no scripts here! Children develop dramatic fluency by responding instantly to unexpected plot twists. They use improvisation skills to solve narrative problems. Students learn to think outside the box This builds a "think-on-your-feet" confidence that is essential for both the stage and the classroom.
Imagination and World-Building: By using imagination children learn how to create a Sense of Place. They develop the ability to transform a plain room into a high-tech lab or a prehistoric jungle using only their creative intent.
Acting & Character Versatility: Children learn to move beyond "pretending" to In-Role Characterisation. They experiment with physical theatre (changing how they walk and breathe) and vocal expression to portray diverse roles—from a high-status King to a stealthy Secret Agent.
Executive Function & Logic: Every mission presents a tactical dilemma. Should we build a bridge or find a secret tunnel? Children learn to weigh risks and make fast, logical decisions.
Collaborative Leadership: Our "Specialist" roles ensure that every child has a job. Whether they are the Lead Engineer or the Scent-Tracker, they must work together. If one fails, the mission fails.
Advanced Communication: Through negotiation with "Non-Player-Characters" characters (played by teachers or parents), children develop persuasive speech, empathy, and the ability to see multiple perspectives.
Physical Intelligence (Proprioception): Navigating "Laser Grids," "Slippery Ridges," and "Zero-G Craters" develops complex motor planning and body awareness. Children learn to use their physical selves to define a space, a foundational skill in theatre.
