Puppet Play - Baby (6 to 18 Months)

Turn Playtime into Brain-Building Magic!

Did you know that to a baby, a puppet isn’t just a toy—it’s a living, breathing window into the social world? Our Baby Puppet Play class is a unique journey designed specifically for the most critical window of your child’s development.

This isn’t just a class for your baby; it’s a toolkit for you. You’ll learn the art of "Serve and Return"—the biological secret to wiring your child’s brain for success. Come for the giggles, stay for the science, and leave with a deeper bond than ever before.

6–12 Months: Sensory & Neural Growth

Tiny Explorers Discovering a World of Wonder!

Join your baby in a high-contrast world designed to sharpen visual tracking and auditory focus, the earliest building blocks of concentration. You will learn how to use purposeful movement and sound to stimulate your child's neural pathways and strengthen their understanding of object permanence.

At this stage, your baby is transitioning from basic reflexive movement to intentional observation, where their brain is busy building the vital neural connections needed to track, focus, and make sense of the world around them.

Developmental and Educational Focus Include:

  • Visual Tracking: Developing the eye-muscle strength to follow moving objects smoothly.

  • Object Permanence: Realising a puppet still exists even when hidden behind a screen or hand.

  • Joint Attention: Learning to share focus with a parent on a single object or activity.

12–18 Months: Early Language & Motor Skills

Where First Words Spark a Lifetime of Learning!

Work alongside your child to bridge the gap between sounds and meaning, accelerating their vocabulary acquisition through tactile puppet play. These sessions empower you with techniques to boost your child's receptive language, turning everyday bonding into a launchpad for emergent literacy.

Your child is entering a period of rapid language explosion and physical discovery, moving from simple gestures to an active understanding of words, labels, and their own place in the physical world.

Developmental and Educational Focus Include:

  • Receptive Language: Understanding and responding to names for body parts, animals, and common objects.

  • Imitative Play: Copying simple gestures or sounds made by the puppet and parent.

  • Fine Motor Basics: Learning to point, reach, and grasp with precision during puppet interactions.

FAQs

How long are the sessions?

1

Each session is 45 minutes of high-engagement play, including a welcome ritual, interactive activities, and a calming goodbye.

Does my child need their own puppet?

2

We provide a curated library of high-contrast, tactile, and specialty puppets for use during class. We’ll even help you choose the "best friend" that matches your child's personality each week!

Do parents have to perform?

3

Not at all! We use the puppet as a "social shield." You’ll find that when you’re looking at the puppet and talking to your child, the rest of the room disappears. It’s about your bond, not a Broadway performance.

My toddler is very active and won't sit still. Is this for us?

4

Yes! We move from "Big Body" gross motor play to "Small Focus" fine motor play specifically to help active toddlers learn to regulate their energy. Moving is part of the learning!

Can I join midway through the term?

5

Our curriculum is a "spiral," meaning we repeat and build on skills. While starting at the beginning of the term is recommended, our "Welcome" ritual helps new families jump right in at any time
